Portfolio Piece- Color Clothing Study
Hi! Its been a while...and I must admit I've been a tad busier then I would of liked, but I've finally been able to get my hands on a sketchbook. Yay! This morning I'm trying to get back into the flow of things. I've been planing on working on Willow's clothing, especially the color and design! I didn't want anything too detailed, so I stuck with something basic as a whole THEN went with more extravagant look when it came to color. The one thing I love about Indian clothing is the beautiful designs! Now its just the problem of picking the colors I think will fit her personality.

ROUGH doodles
I was extremely bored at work yesterday and decided to do some five-minute sketches of the heroine of the story. I'm happy I used pen this time around, since I don't use the medium as often as I would like...

Portfolio Piece- Expression Page (Willow)
Good Day! This is Willow's expression page (she's also in her final concept). I was going to try to post the expression page, turnaround, color sheet and render in the same post. Unfortunately things aren't going as smoothly/ fast as I want, SO I'm posting this as a 'teaser'. This weekend I'm on my way to the CTN Expo( yay!), so I won't have much time to finish and post the remaining drawings of Miss Willow.

Transportation sketches
Good Evening! I haven't posted much in a while and wanted to put some sketches up that I drew a while back. There still conceptual drawings of Willow. Most having to do with transportation, Willow on a boat and horse. Both are very 'sketchy' and I really don't have any plans for them at the moment...
Good news is that Willow's final concept is finally finished! Right now I just finished her 5pt turns and face expressions. I'll be posting them up shortly for you to see (probably after I finish her color comp). Then on to another character! Cant wait....but which one????

The Green Maiden
So! The character above is still apart of Willow's universe. Before I changed the 'exterior' of the original tale the woman was already a character that Willow would meet on her journeys. She is a half human hybrid called a 'Glastiag'. Her origins are not really Indian, more Scottish or Welsh...but she one of my favorites in the story so I decided to keep her and just redraw her to fit into the location that she will be dwelling.
In her summary she is said to be very beautiful, always wearing a green cloak. Some call her the green maiden. She is half human and goat, almost like a satyr. She is said to protect herds of livestock; cattle, sheep, goats (of course) and children. BUT, she also has a dark side. In her legend she lures men to their doom, kills them and drinks their blood. In my story she has inherited all of these characteristics. As you will probably guess, shes more on her soft side this morning...but BEWARE! Her intentions our unclear and she is not to be trusted....

Morning Warm-up
Hi! So above is this mornings warm-up. Still a rough concept of Willow. Nothing too big, but I wanted to post what I was working on. This was just for fun. Hopefully this weekend i'll have time to draw her final design (and turnaround).

Just passing through...
I started this quick sketch of Willow yesterday at work. Nothings final for her yet, but I haven't posted in a while, so I wanted to put something up. I'm still working on her final design (Its proving harder then expected). But my goal is to have it down by Saturday.
Thanks for swimming,

Portfolio Piece- Garment Study
Good Morning,
This image is probably the final form of Willow based on the concept page I did Sunday. There might be a bit tweaking here and there but she's overall done. Yesterday I finished these sketches of her in different clothing. In the first part of the story she's still fairly a young girl and probably wont be wearing anything too provocative. Some of the clothes will fit when she's reach 'womanhood'. With that said, I think I'm going to go with either the drawing on the far left or the second to the far right. Now that I think about it, I might just mix the two and see how that turns out.
Keep 'a swimming,

Portfolio piece- Willow Study
Hi everyone, this is my first October sketch AND a piece I will be putting in my portfolio. Its of one of my old characters (Willow). Only, this time I've decided to change her story a bit. I've always been unsure on what her final 'form' should be...I've decided to try something NEW. And try a new theme to her back story...more exotic. For her look, I was thinking a lot of woman Indian dress wear (I've discovered I love drawing drapery). I had a lot of fun with her, now its just the matter of picking which one for turnarounds, actions and face expressions!
Have a goodnight swimmers,

Nice Sunday
Hello and Good Morning!
I wanted to post this pic up just incase I forgot...
I had drew it yesterday during work..kinda a special request by a fellow artist. Noel Cox. Its for the Animation Academy gallery they have in the back. It includes a collection of personal works by some of the artists that work there. I was asked to contribute AND this is what I came up with! I wouldn't mind seeing it colored some day...time will tell.
Have a nice day swimmers,

Q.A. Holman
Good morning everyone! Today I finally finished some head turns that I've been working on this weekend. It's actually an old character that I did in 2001! I'm a little too embarrassed to show what he looked like back then, BUT he looks GREAT now! (trust me). I tried a more 'angled' style this time around. Next, I plan to work on his full body turn and also outfit selection/ color.
Have a nice swim this morning,

Lazy Owls
Hi everyone! Here's some loose sketches I had time to draw at work. For some reasons I was thinking 'Owl' today... either them sleeping, laughing yawning, ect. I think I might try to continue with this mini project, but time will tell if I will have another 'owl' inspiration.
Tell next time swimmers,

New Media-Brushes
This is a first for me...I've been experimenting for a few days with an app called Brushes (for the iphone/itouch). It's a GREAT program! Especially when drawing on the go (like I would love to do). I'm still getting the hang of the layers and other components of the program but I really like it so far. Its pretty simple. ;0)
Happy swimming!

Skin Test
Skin test before I fall asleep. Sort of too-much-tan-leathery-skin (Yeah, shes been outside WAY too long). Haha, but I still think it turned out very well. Normally around this time period her skin would be a powder-white, but I kinda ran with something different. I think i'll either finish or redo her...
Night!
Construction complete!
