Hi swimmers,

One of my favorite things to do is reinvent characters of favorite story books. I haven't drew anything on 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' since college and these designs just sorta popped in my head.
I think what inspired me to create this, was the scene between Alice and the Cheshire Cat, "Can you stand on your head?" in Disney's Alice in Wonderland.
It was always my favorite scene as a kid, totally hilarious to me. :) Then from there, the ideas just started to flow.

Hello! Day twenty-four has come three days late unfortunately. Hopefully my busy work schedule and devotion to 'other projects' won't get too much in the way. Anyways, today's subject is on family. So I made a quick sketch of Wood and his parents (traditional family portrait).

Day Eight: Weeks

Yay, Day Eight is up. This time I just did a comic of Woodberry. He just received a package after a long vacation. Apparently the sender, Rita McGoosley sent his peach cobbler weeks before his arrival back...eew.

The Green Maiden

So! The character above is still apart of Willow's universe. Before I changed the 'exterior' of the original tale the woman was already a character that Willow would meet on her journeys. She is a half human hybrid called a 'Glastiag'. Her origins are not really Indian, more Scottish or Welsh...but she one of my favorites in the story so I decided to keep her and just redraw her to fit into the location that she will be dwelling.

In her summary she is said to be very beautiful, always wearing a green cloak. Some call her the green maiden. She is half human and goat, almost like a satyr. She is said to protect herds of livestock; cattle, sheep, goats (of course) and children. BUT, she also has a dark side. In her legend she lures men to their doom, kills them and drinks their blood. In my story she has inherited all of these characteristics. As you will probably guess, shes more on her soft side this morning...but BEWARE! Her intentions our unclear and she is not to be trusted....

Hello and Good Morning!

I wanted to post this pic up just incase I forgot...
I had drew it yesterday during work..kinda a special request by a fellow artist. Noel Cox. Its for the Animation Academy gallery they have in the back. It includes a collection of personal works by some of the artists that work there. I was asked to contribute AND this is what I came up with! I wouldn't mind seeing it colored some day...time will tell.

Art for Africa- Charity Drawing

This is my transition to the final drawing for a charity auction my friend asked me to do... Im glad I did my part in the matter and im happy with the way it turned out. Though...I REALLY like the sketch version of my 'zebra dog' more. The highest bid was $30.

Animal Weekend- Uncle Maximus 'Max'

Today starts the animal weekend experiment that I've decided to do. This is the first drawing, 'Uncle Maximus'. Since I rarely draw animals to begin with, I've dedicated a whole three days of drawing nothing but animals. Uncle Max is the start and hopefully there will be more of him (since I really like his character).

Me and The Matriarch

Just a post for the day. I've been sick at home and had the energy to draw this picture. It's actually from a dream I had a couple of days ago. The little girl peering up is suppose to be me. It's funny, in my dream she didn't have tusks(like they normally do) so I didn't draw her with any. I plan on exploring this a little bit more, but for now I just I wanted to draw this quick sketch that's been in my head.

Blurry Monkey

My first post in a while is a 'People watching' sketch. I saw a kid outside my apartment walking down the parking lot. He had some headphones on and looked pretty engrossed in his music. Pretty skinny guy, looked laid back... I decided he would fit well as an animal then human (since it's what I normally don't do in the first place). I was inspired the minute I saw him. It was fun to try to capture his personality. Speed sketching is one of my favorite things to do (even though sometimes I don't have enough time.)

Soooo, I was very bored at work and to past the time I started people watching. Indeed it's a very interesting and educational experience(especially when working at a theme park). The way people move and act can be hilarious at times..and also gives some great inspiration. At the top is a little girl that I saw walking with her parents. I don't know why I drew her as an animal, but when I saw her I just thought ' cute little bear'. The hippo below just expresses my emotion some part of that day. Bored.

LIVE: From Alaia's Sketchbook

OKAY! So it's been a while since I posted and I decided to start out with three works...
The first are new characters I've been thinking up for a couple of week now, it's called SIRENS. These two characters are still a bit rough but there overall all look is already finished.
Moving on... We have Hopkins (which some have seen before) only this time he's colored. I actually did this all loooooonnng time ago when I first sketched him out. I painted him in painter 9, using the watercolor tool. Even though it's not finish I still like where I was headed....
And LAST is the one and only Willow. The last concept I've did of her was the Viva la Vida painting. I've kept her costume but changed her look...and YES this is her final look! (applause). It just took me five years to get it....BUT I'm still working on her skin tone and hair. Sooo her concept is done...just not her color scheme...Kapeesh?!

Hopkins

So this is the start of the new goal that I'm working on. Yeah, I figure that I have the human anatomy pretty much down for the most part...SO for the month of February I decided to start aiming my designs on animals. I haven't drawn many so far (except maybe jellywoman and that one other weird sketch) and I think it's time for me to practice on something different.
This is Hopkins, a tiger (as you can see). He's not really apart of any series...but he might be once I create other animal characters.
