Duke and the randoms...

Good day to all! Here are some random images I was sketching in my sketchbook this week. Everyone is pretty much a new character EXCEPT for the old pompous bugger on the right. He was actually apart of a series of highly caricatured characters called Royal Chauffeurs. I redrew him just for giggles and liked how he turned out. The picture below is the version I drew of him around this time last year. His cheeks are not that puffed out anymore but I LOVE the shape of his head and his long nose. I'm thinking I might revisit other past characters and see what I can come up with...anyways tell next time.

LIVE: From Alaia's Sketchbook

OKAY! So it's been a while since I posted and I decided to start out with three works...
The first are new characters I've been thinking up for a couple of week now, it's called SIRENS. These two characters are still a bit rough but there overall all look is already finished.
Moving on... We have Hopkins (which some have seen before) only this time he's colored. I actually did this all loooooonnng time ago when I first sketched him out. I painted him in painter 9, using the watercolor tool. Even though it's not finish I still like where I was headed....
And LAST is the one and only Willow. The last concept I've did of her was the Viva la Vida painting. I've kept her costume but changed her look...and YES this is her final look! (applause). It just took me five years to get it....BUT I'm still working on her skin tone and hair. Sooo her concept is done...just not her color scheme...Kapeesh?!

Wonka line-up

Okay, so heres the full cast that I came up with for Willy Wonka character design. I tried to put a bit of my style in there (but I was also referencing Nightmare Before Christmas and a bit of Triplets of Belleville). From left to right ( Mr. Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Augustus Gloop and Mike Teevee).

Mike TeeVee

I added a pet lizard (really don't know why) but he just looks like that type of kid.

Violet Beauregarde

Gum chewing Violet (she's probably my favorite out of the kids...story based wise...)

Veruca Salt

Another concept of the Wonka kids. This is (of course) the spoiled brat that gets dumped down that egg shaft.

Charlie and the Golden Ticket

My concept of Charlie from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. I wanted to do it in a slightly different style then my own...a bit darker (which is why the colors are muted).

Samurai Sketches

Some action poses for a new character series that I'm working on. It's based off of a samurai sketch I had a drew a few months ago.

People Watching

A couple of sketches that I did yesterday while I was waiting for the new Disneyland parade to start. These two were right in front of me... and I was bored so I decided to draw them.

Baby Snatcher

This is a concept of a creature that I made a story about. He has a name but I forgot what exactly it is... Anyways he's based on a Brownie (I believe...which is a type of creature in old European tales).

How About a Magic Trick?

Here's my style of the joker. I had drew him before, but it was in the nurse outfit (one of my favorite scenes). I got the inspiration to draw him again from a guest that was wearing a shirt with him on it. The shirt said, "How about a Magic Trick?"

TADA!

Bugs Life

Alright! Here some pictures that I'm working on for work at Disney. My lead had asked me if I could do some Valentine cards for some of the RO (ride operators) at Bugs Land in California Adventure. I surprisingly had fun drawing the characters.
From top to bottom: Tuck and Roll, Heimlich, Francis, Flick and Atta and Dot.

When I Ruled the World...

A doodle that I did a couple of days ago... I think the fact that I left it really scratchy goes well with what type of personality I'm trying to portray.

Hopkins

So this is the start of the new goal that I'm working on. Yeah, I figure that I have the human anatomy pretty much down for the most part...SO for the month of February I decided to start aiming my designs on animals. I haven't drawn many so far (except maybe jellywoman and that one other weird sketch) and I think it's time for me to practice on something different.
This is Hopkins, a tiger (as you can see). He's not really apart of any series...but he might be once I create other animal characters.

...Trouble

Bored at work again. The paper wasn't large enough to fit all of the kids. Thought about them messing around with something which ends up getting broken. At this is pretty much a freeze frame of them getting found out.

She Lost the Bet...

Miss Hayley. Apparently she lost a bet and is doomed to wear the schools "ant" mascot costume for the ENTIRE day. Man, she looks sooooo happy...

Fan Art (Noodle color)

Was bored at work again. So I drew this and decided to color her. It didn't take too long. I mostly used the gradient tool.

Kickball Photo

Oh, good times. Yes, I know that kickballs are usually red...BUT that would totally collide with thier uniforms... yah know whatta mean?
Truthfully, I don't know why I chose the mascot as an ant... For some reason I could only think of siafu ants (the really badass ones with the pincers in the amazon). Yes it's random, but I can't think of any school who has an insect as a mascot... AND it ties in with the 'A' on their shirts...(sort of...).

Week One Challenge was "I was born in the wrong decade". Sooooo I chose to draw myself in the 80's (My fav decade). I think it turned out pretty well and gives me some practice on stuff I normally wouldn't think of drawing...
The challenge is there for everyone, so you can totally draw something and email it to Sketch N Sniff. Here's the link to the Weekly Challenges:
